Christin Zapp - Director

Christin began dancing at the age of 6 in Northern California where she trained in Classical Ballet for 10 years. While attending San Jose State University she expanded her dance experience to Jazz, Tap and Modern and performed for two summers with The American Folk Ballet at "The Festival of the American West" in Logan, Utah. Christin went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance and Theater from the University of California and moved to New York City where she studied under Merce Cunningham and worked for the Cunningham Foundation for two years.

After returning to the West Coast Christin joined the State Ballet of Oregon under the directorship of Eric Hyrst (Royal Ballet of England & New York City Ballet). Ashland, Oregon is home to the famous Shakespearian Festival where the company performed "Ballet in the Park" every week on the beautiful Festival grounds. Her favorite roles were the characters of Swanilda in the romantic ballet, "Copellia" and as the myopic stepsister in "Cinderella".
Upon relocating to Colorado Springs with her husband, Mike, Christin joined the Ormao Dance Company where she became a contributing dancer, teacher and choreographer. In 1991, "Gymnastics and Dance of Rockrimmon" was founded which has expanded to the new "Artsports" featuring 26,000 sq. ft. of Dance, Gymnastics, Trampoline, Power tumbling, Cheer and Fitness. Even with her busy schedule, Christin finds time to dance with Ormao, The Fine Arts Repertory Theater, and attends workshops with master teachers to learn the latest techniques and styles of dance to pass on to her students.

Many Artsports students have gone on to perform with the Fine Arts Repertory Theater, the Colorado Jazz Dance Company and in the "Nutcracker" with the Moscow and San Diego Ballet Companies. Presently, her 22 year old daughter, Tia, travels the Seas as a dancer on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
